Established in 1108, Nangzhig Monastery is the largest Bon monastery in the world. For more than a thousand years, monks from the three Tibetan regions of Amdo, Tsayng and Kham have come to study the teachings of Yungdrung Bon in the monastic school, so that bön may flourish and benefit countless sentient beings.
The dialectical Yungdrung Bon school at Nangzhig awards a Geshe degree as its highest graduate degree. In Western terms, this is equivalent to a Doctorate of Philosophy. It takes many dedicated years of study and practice to attain this graduate degree.
There are currently over a thousand monks in the monastic dialectic school studying the teachings of Yungdrung Bon. Coming from all regions of Tibet, the monks contend with many hardships of circumstances in order to pursue their studies. During their years of study, their needs are reduced to a minimum, and they often have to do without necessities that most people take for granted, such as adequate medication, food, and clothing. They also have difficulty in procuring the textbooks and school materials necessary for their studies. These monks are the future teachers of the Bön tradition who will work to preserve, maintain, protect and spread the precious teachings of Bon throughout the world.
The Khapura Rinpoche Foundation invites you to join us in the effort to create proper living conditions for these exceptional monks in their quest to study the priceless teachings of Yungdrung Bon.
A monks livelihood mainly depends on the generosity of donors from the community. As contemporary conditions in Tibet change, the necessity for the international bönpo community to give their support becomes more acute.

For only one dollar you can sponsor a student at Yungdrung Bon College, this is the living expenses for one day as a monk.
Sponsorship can be done in several ways:
periodic sponsor – make a payment or payments to support a monk or group of monks for a specific period of time,
temporary sponsor – covers the cost of a monk during an eight-year program of studies,
full sponsor – covers the costs of a monk for a period of ten years of study through the entirety of a monks time at the dialectic school, up to their graduation as a geshe.
